Roughly how long is the fence line?
A pace is close enough to a metre. We confirm everything before anything is cut.
Profiles and finishes
Design your look
Three front fences we have made, in a dark powdercoat, a white one and a woodlook finish.
Why BFO front fencing?
Powdercoated aluminium battens, set on a plinth or straight into the ground, made to the length of your boundary.
The part of the house everyone sees
A front fence is what the street sees first and what weathers fastest. Aluminium and powdercoat hold their look without the sanding and repainting a timber fence needs.
Privacy on your terms
The gap between battens is yours to choose. Wide and open to the street, tight enough to screen the front room, or somewhere in between.
Match the house, or contrast it
Powdercoated to any Dulux or Interpon colour, including the woodlook finishes. Give us a Colorbond or Dulux code and we will match it.
Hose it down now and then
Aluminium does not rust, rot or warp, and powdercoat does not need sanding back and repainting every few summers.
1.2m to 1.8m, or higher
Made to whatever height suits the street and the setback. Anything over 1.2m may need council approval, so check before you order.
Made to your boundary
Runs, returns, corners and slope are set out to your measurements before anything is cut.

Privacy, dialled in
Pick your gap spacing
Privacy versus openness comes down to one measurement: the gap between battens. Tell us the number you want and we set the baseplate to it.
- 25–50mm
- Close to a screen. Blocks most of the view in from the footpath while still reading as battens rather than a wall.
- 60–75mm
- The usual choice. Private at an angle, open as you walk past, and the spacing most of our front fences go out at.
- 75–85mm
- Open and airy. Keeps the frontage light and the garden visible, with the fence doing boundary rather than screening.

Front fencing FAQs
Do I need a planning permit for a front fence?
It depends on your local council and the fence height. In most Australian states, front fences up to 1200mm generally don’t require a permit; fences over 1200mm, or those on corner blocks affecting sight lines, may need council approval. We’re happy to help you navigate it.
What height options are available?
Heights from 1200mm to 1800mm and beyond, 1200mm for an open, welcoming look, 1500mm for a balance of privacy and visibility, 1800mm for maximum privacy. We can custom-manufacture to any height to suit your council regulations.
Can I match the fence colour to my house?
Yes, the full Dulux and Interpon powdercoat range. Provide a Colorbond or Dulux colour code and we’ll match it exactly. Woodlook finishes are also available, replicating timber without the maintenance.
How do I balance privacy with visibility?
Adjustable gap spacing. Wider gaps (75–85mm) create an open, airy feel; narrower gaps (25–50mm) provide more privacy and screening. You can vary gap spacing across different sections.
How long does installation take?
A typical front fence install takes 1 to 2 days. The patent-pending non-weld system goes in faster than welded fencing: the panels fix down to a machined baseplate rather than posts set in concrete, so there is nothing to cure before you stand them up. DIY installation is also possible.
What maintenance is required?
Virtually none, just hose it down occasionally. Aluminium won’t rust, rot, or warp, and the UV-resistant powder coating withstands years of Australian sun. No painting, sanding, or treating, ever.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
All structural components against manufacturing defects, plus powder-coating adhesion and peeling, frame to finish, for a full decade.
